Charlotte's Web Radio Style

Charlotte's Web Radio Style

Synopsis: Young Fern has selected Wilbur, the runt of the litter, as her pet pig. Once Wilbur matures, however, he is sold to Fern's Uncle, Homer Zuckerman. It soon becomes apparent that Wilbur is meant for the slaughterhouse. In order to save him, Wilbur’s only friend on Zuckerman’s farm, a spider named Charlotte writes praises for the pig in her web. Charlotte continues to write new messages, earning Wilbur a blue ribbon at the fair and cementing his place on Zuckerman’s farm for good. Now old and exhausted, Charlotte dies, but not before leaving behind an egg sack with a new generation of spiders.

The Argument: When reviewing LBSC’s history, this story seems best suited to our roots. The power of language is the cornerstone of our theatre company and just as Wilbur finds a home on Zuckerman’s farm, we (and our pig, Hamlet) have found a home here in Bixby Knolls.
